It was a day that won’t soon be forgotten for the Lepack family.
Tiffany Lepack of Arnprior is a life-long monarchist. So, with His Majesty King Charles III in Ottawa to deliver the speech from the throne Tuesday in the Senate chamber, she saw an opportunity, and she seized it.
Early Tuesday, she packed up her children, John, 11, and Lucy, 10, and they headed to the city to hopefully lay their eyes on the king and Queen Camilla. They arrived downtown by 6:45 a.m. and stationed themselves on Wellington Street across from the Senate.
They were not disappointed, enjoying a clear view of the King and Queen’s arrival and all the pomp and circumstance that surrounded it. She was able to snap several photos to preserve the memories.
Lepack hopes it’s something her children remember for the rest of their lives.
Lepack is a member of the Monarchist League of Canada and this is not her first glimpse of royalty – she saw the Queen the last time she visited Canada.
She is pleased with the decision to have King Charles III deliver the speech.
She was moved by the speech, and incredibly grateful to share the experience with John and Lucy.
Following the experience, the Lepacks were off to Starbucks for a treat and to cool off after their time in the warm spring sun.
As for the King and Queen, after the speech, they laid a wreath and flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial and then headed back to the U.K.
