The Chalk River Professional Employees Group (CRPEG) will begin strike activities at the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) main gate in Chalk River starting Monday, May 26th. Drivers travelling through the area should anticipate potential delays for the remainder of the week due to active picketing.
CRPEG, which represents professional employees at CNL, is currently on strike after contract negotiations held from May 20 to 22 with the assistance of a federally appointed mediator, Mr. Lalonde, ended without a tentative agreement. While both sides made progress, unresolved issues remain, including economic (scale) adjustments, benefits, sick leave, office space, and 4×10 working arrangements.
The union has officially served strike notice to CNL in accordance with the Canadian Labour Code, and members have transitioned to a work-to-rule campaign until further notice. CRPEG has confirmed that additional details and strike FAQs will be provided directly to members via personal email.
