Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon will lead the way later this summer as the community tees off for a pair of worthy causes.
The county’s 18th annual Warden’s Golf Tournament will make Renfrew’s Dragonfly Golf Links its home for a third straight year on June 20th, a day that Emon expects to be a fun trip around one of the Ottawa Valley’s most picturesque golf courses as they raise money for two charities close to his heart.
While his connection to the county’s housing and homelessness fund is obvious, Warden Emon explains that his ties to Family and Children’s Services and their Darlene Aikens Memorial Fund, which identifies and helps local children who don’t have access to summer recreation and camp opportunities, stem back to his very first career experience in social services.
The tournament has raised nearly $70,000 for various local charities and organizations since its inception in 2005, and while the event has called many different golf courses home, there has been a sense of comfort as they’ve made Dragonfly their regular stop over the past three years.
Registration is open at $500 for a team or $125 per golfer, which includes green fees, a riding cart, a boxed lunch, a swag bag, after-game appetizers, and door prizes. Questions can be sent to Greg Belmore, the county’s manager of human resources, by calling 613-735-3675 ext. 427 or by email.
