If your spring cleaning efforts have stalled at the old paint cans inside your garage, now’s your chance to solve that problem.
Renfrew’s Household Hazardous Waste Depot has reopened for the season starting this week, taking in a wide range of otherwise tough to dispose of items throughout the summer months on a brand new five-day-a-week schedule.
The Bruce Street Depot is free to use by residents of Renfrew, as well as the neighbouring municipalities of Arnprior, McNab-Braeside, Horton, Admaston/Bromley, Addington Highlands and Greater Madawaska, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and again Friday and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Items currently being accepted by the depot include:
- Paints: All Types of Paint, Stains, Varnish, spray paint, etc.
- Solvents: Turpentine, Disinfectants, Household Cleaners, Bleach, Oven And Drain Cleaners, Furniture Stripper, Ammonia, etc.
- Herbicides, Pesticides and Insecticides, Weed Killer, etc.
- Pool cleaners
- Propane Tanks
- Batteries: Small Standard, Button, Small Tool, Car and Boat Batteries.
- Automotive Fluids: Used Oil, Brake Fluid, Gasoline, Anti-Freeze, etc.
- Oil filters
- Oil containers (empty or containing oil)
- Light Bulbs and Tubes (all types except PCB ballasts)
- Fire Extinguishers
- Aerosols
- Non-refillable pressurized containers: Acetylene, Refrigerant, Propane, Helium, & CO2 cylinders.
- Pharmaceuticals/Medication (No needles)
- Mercury Bulb Thermostats and Switches
