Police say a resident of Renfrew is facing multiple charges and another person is still outstanding following a single-vehicle collision early Monday morning.
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say that about 7 a.m., they received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Storyland Road, near Alex Lane in Horton Township. It was reported that the occupants of the vehicle were walking away from the scene.
“Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle and damaged guardrails. Shortly after, both parties were located away from the collision scene on Storyland Road. Both declined medical attention,” reads an OPP press release.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander John Herbert, 28, of Renfrew was charged with: careless driving; failing to surrender his licence; failing to remain; failing to report damage to a fence bordering a highway; operation while impaired; possession of a prohibited device or ammunition; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and using a plate not authorized for a vehicle.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court June 11. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
“Police have grounds for the arrest of the female occupant,” reads the release.
