Renfrew County has signed a new agreement that allows off-road motorcycle riders to use its recreational trail system. The agreement is with the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders (OFTR), the provincial organization that represents off-road motorcyclists.
As of May 1, riders with a valid permit from OFTR are allowed to access the Algonquin Trail and the K&P Recreational Trail. This new agreement is similar to one already in place with the Renfrew County ATV Club (RCATV), and it requires riders to have a valid motorcycle licence, insurance, and a current permit.
Permits can be purchased directly from OFTR or RCATV through their websites. A permit from either group provides full access to their trail networks across Ontario.
The County is asking all trail users to be respectful of one another and to keep in mind that the trails are shared by different types of users. This agreement supports safe and enjoyable use of the natural trail systems throughout Renfrew County.
