One Renfrew County municipality is reminding the public to beware weather conditions on Tuesday as high winds and storms are expected.
“High winds are expected in Pembroke Tuesday as storms roll through the city,” reads a Monday evening City of Pembroke press release. “Environment Canada provided an update today noting a thunderstorm will start in the morning between 8 and 10 a.m. followed by a storm in the afternoon from 3-8 p.m.”
Officials say residents can expect wind gusts of 90-110 km/h, with a chance of damaging winds in the area.
Keep these tips in mind when experiencing high winds:
- Be aware of weather conditions and warnings.
- Seek shelter indoors if possible.
- The safest place to be indoors is in the basement. If you don’t have a basement, go to the centre of an interior room on the lowest level away from corners, windows, doors, and outside walls.
- Don’t open windows or doors. Find more safety tips online at ontario.ca/tornado.
