Eileen Jones-Whyte gathered with supporters and volunteers at an event at Festival Hall in Pembroke on election night.
We checked in with the team earlier Monday evening. With only several Algonquin-Renfrew-Pembroke polls reporting, Conservative Cheryl Gallant was leading, Liberal Cyndi Mills was next and the NDPs were sitting a distant third.
Campaign manager Dez Bair-Patel said among the biggest challenges of the campaign was the large geographical size of the Algonquin-Renfrew-Pembroke riding compared to the locations of the population centres.
The NDP team tried to reach as many people as possible during the campaign, hearing that what voters in the Valley want is someone who’s going to speak up for them, said Bair-Patel.
Strategic voting has been a frustration, said Bair-Patel.
The event was an opportunity to thank volunteers and team members for their hard work and support during the campaign.
