Eileen Jones Whyte is your NDP nominee in Algonquin-Renfrew-Pembroke. This is her second time seeking a seat in the Federal Parliament, having carried the banner in 2019.
Eileen enjoyed an almost twenty-year career in education locally, and continues as a supply teacher part-time.
An important aspect of her work record is shared with many in the region, she has military experience.
She then joined the academic profession, and gained experience at a variety of venues.
Being a keen student of current affairs, Eileen’s decision to enter politics was a natural progression.
As she goes door-to-door, it’s important to be “all ears”.
But it’s not only policies, Eileen says the proof is in the pudding.
That’s consistent with party history; the movement’s founder, J.S. Woodsworth, succeeded in establishing the Old Age Pension. The efforts of Tommy Douglas led to Medicare- and, during the pandemic, it was the NDP’s efforts that led to a viable “CERB” program.
Looking forward, it can be NDP initiatives that will ease life’s pressures caused by both Donald Trump’s unpredictability, and Canadian corporate greedsters.
Jones Whyte reminds us it was the Tories that brought in the GST, and the Liberals who “harmonized” it.
Although the riding name has changed, Eileen knows voters still prefer a little face-time with their candidate.
Jones Whyte says that after twenty-four years with the same face on Parliament Hill, Cheryl Gallant should not be considered insurmountable.
The Federal Election is April 28th, joining Eileen Jones-Whyte on the ballot are: Randy Briand, National Party, Cheryl Gallant, Conservative; and Cyndi Mills, Liberal. Expected to be nominated are Patrick Dale, People’s Party and Danilo Velasqueuz, Green.
Nominations close April 7th.
