March came in like a lion for Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s charitable arm as the community continues to chase a growing jackpot.
RVH Foundation Executive Director Patti Dillabough was flanked by James Johnston and Diane Laroque of the Renfrew Lion’s Club on Thursday, February 27th, as she oversaw week 6 of the hospital’s Catch the Ace lottery, promoting the pair’s efforts to grow the community group’s numbers as they ramp up charitable efforts across town this year.
Dillabough was proud to present some impressive numbers ahead of the draw, including $17,215 raised in support of vital equipment upgrades within the hospital and a progressive jackpot of $15,329 up for grabs for this week’s draw winner, Allison White of Renfrew.
White would walk away with the weekly prize worth $1,389, while Dillabough announced that tickets for week 7’s draw were on sale at participating vendors and through the RVH Foundation website.
She also used the evening to announce that the hospital is gearing up for a special daffodil dedication campaign just in time for Cancer Awareness Month in April.
This year’s run of the Catch the Ace lottery has so far been able to avoid the pitfalls that the hospital faced in 2024, which saw a number of wins within the first few weeks and subsequent restarts before Cairine Bruce of Douglas won a $49,414 jackpot in September.
