Boston Pizza, with the help of the community, has shown Hospice Renfrew a whole lotta love.
Hospice officials dropped by the O’Brien Road eatery recently to receive a generous donation of $2,500, funds raised through several initiatives.
John Birch, operating partner, explains why it was important to support Hospice Renfrew in this way.
He’s grateful for the incredible support from customers for their role in raising the money.
Among the fundraisers was ‘Panookies for a Purpose,’ which ran for the month of January until Feb. 17, with every Panookie sold equalling a $1 donation for Hospice Renfrew. And then, on Valentine’s Day, $1 from every heart-shaped pizza sold was donated. Customers also pitched in with cash donations. Those initiatives raised just shy of $2,000 and the franchisee added another $500 to reach the grand total of $2,500.
The restaurant has only been open a few short months, but support has been incredibly strong, said Birch, so boosting local facilities like hospice makes sense.
Marjorie Joly, executive director of Hospice Renfrew, explains just how important community support is.
The donation was very much appreciated, she said.
