February is Black History Month, when people across Canada participate in events and celebrations that honour the legacy and contributions of Black people in Canada and their communities.
This year’s theme is “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.” Officials say this theme acknowledges the diversity of Black Canadians, the importance of Black leadership and the legacy being built for future generations
In honour of Black History Month, Renfrew Public Library staff members have compiled a list of recommended reads.
