Officials at both the public and Catholic school boards have communicated to families that if the storm brings weather that is too dangerous to keep some or all schools open, a joint notice will be issued by 6 a.m. tomorrow (February 13).
If issued, the closure directive may affect all or some schools, plant sites, and/or the board office.
The general policy is to keep schools open even on days when buses are cancelled, but that may need to be reconsidered to ensure everyone’s safety.
The storm is expected to arrive this evening and continue with severe conditions into the morning of Thursday, Feb. 13.
The Renfrew County District School Board, Renfrew County Catholic District School Board and Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium are working closely to closely monitor the storm conditions and co-ordinate an announcement.
Officials say safety of students and staff is the top priority.
News will be communicated in direct emails to families, on the respective board’s websites and social media
