Environment Canada says the Ottawa Valley is on a collision course with some major snowfall before the week is done.
The weather agency says it’s increasingly likely a “highly impactful” winter storm will touch down in the region starting some time Wednesday evening and into Thursday.
As much as 20 to 40 centimetres of snow and peak snowfall rates exceeding 5 centimetres an hour are possible while heavy winds and local blowing snow create poor visibility and conditions on local roads and walkways.
Avoid travel if possible, but if you must, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry both an emergency kit and a mobile phone.
