The Town of Renfrew is reminding residents about proper placement of garbage and recycling bins during the winter months.
Officials are asking you to please avoid placing garbage and recycling bins on top of snowbanks, sidewalks, or multi-use pathways.
“Doing so creates obstacles for snowplow and sidewalk maintenance crews, as well as for pedestrians, individuals using mobility devices, and strollers,” reads a town notice. “To ensure efficient snow removal and prevent damage to your containers, place them off the sidewalk or street and in your driveway.”
Officials say the town is not responsible for replacing containers damaged by snowplows or sidewalk machines when they are not placed correctly for collection.
“Thank you for your co-operation!” reads the notice.
