Town of Arnprior Council received a well-laid-out presentation from Treasurer Jennifer Morawiec at its January 13th municipal meeting.
Over the last year, consultants have recommended the Town play a game of catch-up in funding reserves for projects in coming years.
Morawiec says the Province views Arnprior as a low-risk borrower- and, if you do a graph comparing cost of living increases to budget hikes over the previous nine years, the Town comes in seven percent below inflation.
The Province says the reference point for a home assessed at average market values (still calculated with 2016 as the base year) is an increase of $78.96 when calculating the 3.5% hike.
Councillors will review the presentation, and can each submit questions relating to it. Actual deliberations are slated for February 3rd and 4th, with passage of the final 2025 Town Budget to happen February 10th.
