Unfortunately with all of the efforts to raise awareness of intimate partner violence, some in the community are not getting the message.
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged five people in the last week for IPV related crimes.
On Wednesday, December 4th, just before 10PM OPP responded to a domestic dispute on Baldwin Street in the Town of Renfrew, charging a 22 year-old Ottawan with two counts of assault, mischief, uttering threats and damaging property.
The accused was released from custody to appear in Pembroke court at a later date.
On December 5th at 4PM OPP were called to Tom Gavinski Street in Arnprior, where a 37 year-old Town resident was charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, common assault and uttering threats.
The accused was released from custody to appear in Pembroke court at a later date.
Also that day at 720PM police were called to Morgan Clouthier Way in Arnprior, where a 30-year-old Arnpriorite was charged with spousal assault, impaired infractions, assault while resisting arrest and other infractions. The accused was held for bail.
On December 7th about 230PM it was a dispute on Wrangler Road in Renfrew that saw a 37 year old from Arnprior charged with obstructing police and assault. The accused was released and scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.
And on December 8th at about 945PM a family dispute on Daniel Street South in Arnprior saw a 24 year-old Arnprior resident charged with assault, released, and scheduled for a Pembroke Court appearance at a later date.
