You probably could not have timed the annual Santa Claus parade in Renfrew any better.
Some 46 festive floats put together by local groups, organizations, and businesses made their way through the downtown core just in time to get ahead of a small snowstorm that passed through the area during the evening of Saturday, December 7th.
The weather lent a little whimsy to the occasion, according to Town of Renfrew Programs Supervisor Janyne Fraser.
The Big Man in Red himself brought up the rear of the parade, wishing onlookers a merry Christmas on his way to meet with families warming up with some fun, games, and hot cocoa at the after-party inside the Renfrew Legion.
It’s another successful run that Fraser says makes the month-plus of preparations by her team worth every second.
The night proved to be a big hit for virtually everyone taking part, but there will likely be a few changes made in time for 2025, such as where the parade makes its start.
The Town of Renfrew’s next big holiday event is their ‘Frew Years Eve celebration, a free, family-friendly event held at the myFM Centre on the morning of Tuesday, December 31st, including breakfast, public skating, entertainment, plus a pizza lunch before ringing in the New Year at noon.
The myFM Centre will also be hosting a proper New Year’s Eve dinner and dance that evening. Tickets are limited.
