From October 25 to 27, soldiers from the 33 Canadian Brigade Group will participate in Light Utility Vehicle (LUV) driver training courses along roads and trails in Eastern Ontario. Residents between Ottawa and Petawawa may notice an increase in Canadian Army vehicles, particularly on the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (OVRT) and surrounding areas.
The training will take place on pre-planned routes, passing through Renfrew and Cobden. Soldiers will make both short and longer stops for rest, refueling, and scheduled maintenance during the exercise. It is important to note that participating personnel will not carry any weapons or ammunition.
This training is essential for maintaining the operational readiness of the Canadian Armed Forces. It enhances tactical mobility and flexibility on the modern battlefield. Additionally, it prepares soldiers to respond effectively to emergencies in Canadian communities, including natural disasters such as flooding and wildfires.
Regular training is crucial for all Canadian Army Reserve drivers, helping them maintain their qualifications and expertise in military vehicle operations. This routine practice also focuses on tactical convoy operations and off-road driving, testing the soldiers’ discipline and safety skills in challenging environments.
The Canadian Army is committed to minimizing inconvenience during this training exercise. Members of the public are encouraged to exercise caution around military vehicles and are thanked in advance for their understanding and cooperation.
