McNab-Braeside has scheduled a Special Council Meeting for October 23rd, so that elected representatives can review materials for a Provincial Grant application, due for submission by Tuesday, October 29th.
The Township Rec Department would like to go after money from Queen’s Park to upgrade the lighting at McNab Central Park Ball Diamonds.
Given the tight timeline, Recreation had sought approval for the proposal as an add-on to the McNab-Braeside regular meeting agenda of October 15th- but received some push-back.
Deputy Mayor Lori Hoddinott.
Councillor Scott Brum’s sound bite puts the matter in perspective; where once the ball fields hosted Provincial tournaments, the situation has been on the decline since COVID.
Additional funds would be needed to restore the condition of the ball fields to their one-time glory.
Whether it’s decided to apply for the grant to upgrade the lighting at McNab Central Park or not, it’s obvious that something has to be done.
The safety concern was on the minds of everyone at the Council table.
In the end, representatives agreed with Mayor MacKenzie, the matter required the Special Meeting.
Wednesday’s meeting will be conducted by Councillors Brum, Rosien, and Campbell as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be out of town.
