The Renfrew County District School Board is updating the community after Opeongo High School in Douglas was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon.
In an email to parents and guardians, the RCDSB let parents know that students and staff were removed from the building after a gaseous odour was detected near the school’s science labs.
The school’s emergency procedures were followed, students were safely moved outside, and the fire alarms were set off as a precautionary measure.
The RCDSB is working with emergency personnel to investigate the situation and thank parents for their patience and understanding during the process.
