Renfrew Rotary’s influence is being felt all the way on the other side of the globe.
They say they are proud to have partnered with other Rotary clubs in the district to raise over $11,350 USD for the installation of a new water well at a primary school in rural Morogoro, Tanzania.
The project, led by Tanzania Rotary leader Timothy Massawe, covers everything from drilling the well to installing the pump, solar panels, and storage tank. He says that it also solves an urgent need for over 700 students at the school who currently have to walk 5 kilometres each day to fetch water.
“We are thrilled to be part of an initiative that will have such a profound impact on the lives of these children and their community,” said Renfrew Rotary’s John Wilson. “Clean water is a fundamental right, and this project will alleviate the burden on students who currently spend hours each day fetching water.”
Massawe has been sharing updates with the local Rotary Club, including a pivotal moment where water began gushing from the newly drilled well, some of which can be found on social media.
Renfrew Rotary extends heartfelt thanks to all the participating Rotary Clubs for their generous contributions, enabling this vital project to come to fruition.
