The Town of Renfrew will soon be hunting for a new person to lead day-to-day operations, as Chief Administrative Officer Rob Tremblay has decided to step down from his position effective November 1st.
Tremblay was the first CAO ever appointed by the town, coming into the role as part of a 2022 restructuring of the town’s senior management.
In a statement, the town notes that “staff have made significant strides in addressing systemic issues through continuous improvement initiatives, the adoption of new policies, and best practices for staff and Council” since his tenure began.
Tremblay expressed particular pride in the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan (Road to 2035), a community-driven initiative shaped by feedback from residents, staff, stakeholders, and Council leadership. He believes that plan, as well as several other master plans and operational reviews, provide a strong framework for future growth and development.
“It has been an honour to serve as the town’s chief administrative officer at a time of change and renewal,” says Tremblay. “I am extremely proud of the staff team, their resiliency, and hard work despite the challenges facing the town.”
Mayor Tom Sidney has expressed his gratitude for Tremblay’s service, stating that “Rob has been an integral part of Renfrew’s growth since joining more than two years ago. His leadership and dedication have set a strong foundation for the future, and while we are extremely sad to see him go, we respect his decision and wish him the very best.”
Town council is expected to begin the process of recruiting and hiring a new CAO soon, with the intention of a smooth transition leading up to the end of Tremblay’s tenure.
