The Town of Renfrew has come up with one way to keep traffic under control as local school bus operations are frozen.
Acting Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operation Janet Collins tells us what’s happening outside St. Joseph’s and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Schools going forward.
The town is telling parents and guardians dropping their kids off at school that access onto First Street is now from Barnet Boulevard only and that there will be no entry allowed from Muriel Avenue.
Collins explains that the move was made at the request of the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board.
She adds that both the town and the school board will be keeping tabs on the situation and any issues that develop while local school buses remain out of service.
It’s the latest move by our community to mitigate the impact of the ongoing contract dispute between local bus operators and the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium, as local parents have had to choose between alternative ways of getting their kids to class as the school year begins.
