Cold and damp conditions at Renfrew Golf Course could not deter junior golfers from across Ottawa and the Valley.
The PGA of Ottawa held its Ottawa Pro-Junior tournament at RGC on August 19th, with many enthusiastic young golfers disregarding the weather to take part.
Eighteen PGA of Ottawa Golf Professionals with their teams of three junior golfers between the ages of 10 and 18 from their golf clubs participated in the net two-ball, better ball team competition on the Renfrew course.
Renfrew would end up sweeping the day, with Head Professional Greig Burnie and junior golfers Connor Hanniman, Colin Charron, and Brennan Pole finishing the day in first place with their net two-ball, better ball team score of minus two (140).
RGC’s assistant professional, Noah Matthews, also played well, scoring one over par to win the pro-side of the tournament with a one over par.
In the professional competition, Renfrew Golf Club Assistant Professional Noah Matthews finished in 1st place with his score of one over par 72.
Carol Ann Baxter, Executive Director of the PGA of Ottawa, and on day one of the sponsors, thanked the Renfrew Golf Club and its staff and members for hosting the 2024 Pro-Junior event. She also thanked the PGA of Ottawa Professionals and their junior members for taking part.
Next up on the Flagstick.com PGA Ottawa Tour is the PGA of Ottawa Fall Championship at the Stonebridge Golf & Country Club on September 16, 2024.
