Two drivers have been charged with careless driving following separate single-vehicle collisions in the Township of Bonnechere Valley.
The first incident occurred on July 29, 2024, shortly after 6:00 a.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a rollover collision on 60 Highway near Twin Maple Road. A 19-year-old driver from Wilno lost control of their eastbound passenger car, resulting in the rollover. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by paramedics. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Following the investigation, the driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, and a Provincial Offences Act notice was issued.
The second collision took place on August 4, 2024, just before noon. Police responded to an incident involving a minivan on Opeongo Road. The 53-year-old driver from Palmer Rapids veered off the roadway, ending up in a ditch and damaging a road sign. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was similarly charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, receiving a Provincial Offences Act notice.
Both drivers now face legal repercussions as a result of their actions.
