Two drivers travelling on Highway 17 recently are facing stunt driving charges after being stopped by Ontario Provincial Police from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment.
On July 26, 2024, just before 8:30 a.m., a vehicle was stopped after being captured on radar at a speed of 142 km/h in a posted 90 km/h speed zone on Highway 17.
Charles Frey, 18, of Kitchener was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
On July 28, just after 2 p.m., a vehicle was stopped after being captured on radar at a speed of 142 km/h in a posted 90 km/h speed zone on Highway 17.
John Odai, 54, of Nepean was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act as well as operate motor vehicle without insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The charges have not been proven in court.
As a result of the charges, both drivers had their licenses suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days. The drivers were served summons to attend Provincial Offences court at a later date.
