“Shortly before 8 p.m. on July 31, OPP officers received information from Ottawa Police Service (OPS) about a possible impaired driver that they were attempting to locate. The vehicle had been described as a black BMW X3,” reads an OPP press release. “A short time after, a vehicle matching that description was involved in a collision on Highway 417 near Woodroffe Ave. The vehicle fled the scene, but was located a short time later at a residence by OPP.”
Police say the driver registered more than three times the legal limit and was found with open alcohol in the vehicle.
The charges have not been proven in court.
He received an immediate 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in Provincial Court on Sept. 6.
“The OPP would like to thank members of the public who continue to report impaired drivers!” reads the release.
