A staple of downtown Renfrew’s shopping scene is not shying away from unlucky number 13, especially with what they have in store this weekend.
Mel Blimke with a Sense of Country says customers can expect plenty of sweet and sour samplings and treats as well as tables featuring products at special prices ranging from $1 to $10 in the alleyway at this Saturday’s 13th anniversary sales event.

He says that the annual bash is his and wife Jill’s way of giving back to a community that has shown up in a big way to support what was only meant to be a short-term venture.
It’s a level of loyalty that extends past town limits, as Blimke explains that their customer base has lots of seasonal visitors dropping by downtown on their way to the cottage and tourists who fell in love with the cottage-core décor, treats, and other surprises they found on previous trips.
He calls catching up with people on their return visits both comforting and good for business.
Looking ahead to their 14th year in business, Mel says they have a few new exciting additions to their line-up of products plus the introduction of a recurring Super Sunday sales event that he will share more details about in the near future.
