The town of Renfrew is putting its foot down as some people in the area flirt with serious danger along the Bonnechere River.
Town officials say there has been an increase in trespassing on the unsafe shorelines and water by the hydro dam behind the McDougall Mill Museum and are reminding people that fishing, swimming, and other activities are not allowed in the area.
They say it’s a matter of safety because the water levels and currents are determined by the dam, and that trespassing could lead to serious injury or death should the dam open.
An official notice on the Town of Renfrew social media pages says to keep yourself safe by respecting the boundaries in place and asks you to share this information with friends and family.
