It might only take a quick glance to realize that more and more people are taking advantage of Renfrew’s increased focus on providing an experience for locals and visitors.
That’s according to the Town of Renfrew’s programs specialist, Janyne Fraser, who has seen this year’s registration numbers for the wide variety of community programming happening at the myFM Centre, Public Library, and other locations across town skyrocket compared to this time in 2023.
She says her experience in a similar role for the township of McNab/Braeside taught her to be proactive in keeping a constant flow of programming and events the community wants to see.
Part of taking on that expanded role in community programming means Fraser and her team have to be ready to do their homework.
As social media continues to have the unfortunate side effect of putting distance between people, Fraser says people are craving a human connection and engagement with their community, whether it’s a couple of hours exploring a new sport, learning valuable life skills, or just showing up for food, music, and fireworks during their big annual party on Canada Day.
The Renfrew Recreation Team prepares an online seasonal program guide that is updated every three months to give readers an in-depth look at everything happening in town right now.
