One of the leading forces in creating small businesses in Renfrew County has taken a moment to look back.
The Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation recently held their annual members’ meeting in Cobden, where they highlighted the contributions their program has made towards the area’s business community.
That includes $3.26 million in loans issued to 32 growing businesses last year, as well as leveraging another $2.25 million in investments to create or maintain 243 jobs across Renfrew County.
They also highlighted their strategic planning partnership with the County of Renfrew and the launch of their new Community Development Fund, which issued grants to five projects across the county.
The Board of Directors had the opportunity to attend a workshop led by Aimee Bailey of the Circle of Turtle Lodge, who shared information on our local history and how the organization can better acknowledge the Algonquin Anishinabe people of this land and discover how we might take steps toward meaningful reconciliation.
A moment of reflection was observed in memory of Diane McKinnon, the former long-time Executive Director of RCCFDC, who passed away on June 16th.
