Junior B hockey in the Ottawa Valley is welcoming back a familiar face.
The Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League has made Arnprior native Sean Marcellus their new Director of Hockey Operations.
In a statement, the league says that Marcellus brings “a wealth of experience in hockey league management to his new role, further strengthening the EOJHL’s commitment to excellence” in fostering a “high-quality hockey environment that supports and promotes its players.”
The EOJHL also touts Marcellus’ impressive track record, pointing out that he had been Director of Hockey Operations with them from 2015 to 2020 before taking on a similar role and eventually becoming Interim Commissioner of its Junior A counterpart, the Central Canada Hockey League, from 2015 to 2024.
“Sean has been a major contributor to the success of U18 and junior hockey in the region for years,” said Commissioner Marc Franche. “We are lucky to add him to our league staff; he’s a great addition to the EOJHL.”
“I am very excited to join the EOJHL,” said Marcellus. “It is an honour to return to the league where I got started, and I am humbled by the opportunity. Emphasizing the league’s commitment to developing local talent, my objective is to elevate its brand and provide players with the recognition they merit.”
In his new capacity, Marcellus will oversee all hockey operations and manage the league’s social media channels, aiming to enhance the league’s visibility and engagement with its audience.
