The first of hopefully many vibrant new additions to the myFM Centre is coming courtesy of a local artist.
The front entrance to the arena’s newly expanded space will soon feature a work of art donated by Patrick John Mills of the Art Factory after council approved its installation at their Tuesday council meeting.
Councillor Clint McWhirter believes it will add something eye-catching to an otherwise blank canvas.
The 5′ x 30′ piece, titled “The 5 Hearts,” will be on permanent display along the upper wall above the town’s Parks and Recreation Department office, across from the stairs up to the new addition’s second floor.
Mills himself believes the painting “creates a vibe that is abundant, vibrant, infinite, playful, and creative. It celebrates love and creativity.”
Councillor Andrew Dick is eager for the artwork to encourage more collaborations with local artists in a space he frequents regularly.
Reeve Peter Emon echoed that sentiment, as the town continues to look for other artistic features and interactive spaces to “beautify the facility and foster creativity and engagement among residents of all ages.”
Mills will be working with town staff in the near future to install the piece. He’s also shared a sneak peek of the creation on YouTube.
