There’s a new kid in town on Renfrew’s restaurant scene and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.
Mark Van Rijswijk and business partners, including his wife Deanne Dunn and John and Lisa Bailey, have just opened Final Score Sports Bar Renfrew at the Days Inn and, with a little help from the Stanley Cup playoffs, business has been solid.
From opening night, when 90 plates went out of the kitchen in an hour and a half, customers have been coming in and leaving pleased and satisfied. The space underwent extensive renovations before opening last week.
Van Rijswijk he and his partners were looking to expand and, when the hotel owner approached him following a couple of failures in regards to leasing the space, they knew it would be a good fit.
Visitors to Final Score can expect a fun experience – good food, a great draft beer selection, lots of big screen televisions to broadcast sports.
The NHL playoff games drew tons of people, says Van Rijswijk, who outlined some of the upcoming plans, including weekly live entertainment, at Final Score once things have settled following the opening.
Final Score is a Yuk Yuks on Tour site as well so comedy and other shows will be coming.
Pool leagues, as well as food and drink specials, will be coming up, as well.
Van Rijswijk and partners also own two other successful restaurant/bars – the Final Score Sports Bar and Waterfront Gastropub in Carleton Place, as well as a food truck.
As far as the secret to success, according to Van Rijswijk, it’s not really a secret.
Van Rijswijk noted that Final Score also provides catering and there is a wedding hall available at the Days Inn.
Looking ahead, Final Score looks forward to making an impact on Renfrew and area, he said.
