The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre held its Annual General Meeting on June 13, celebrating a decade of impactful service and outlining future goals to meet rising community needs. Chairperson Cynthia Lloyd emphasized the crucial need for long-term funding to sustain their growing services, noting a significant increase in demand over the past three years.
Special guest Steve Wood, recipient of this year’s Robbie’s Wings award, was honored for his dedication to mental health advocacy. Wood recently raised over $16,000 for the Centre through the 3rd Annual Taylor Wood Memorial Run for Mental Health, completing a 42.2 km marathon during Ottawa Race Weekend on May 26. Lloyd praised Wood for his contributions, both financial and in raising awareness about mental health challenges.
Founded by Monique Yashinskie in memory of her son, the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre has provided essential mental health support to Renfrew County’s vulnerable populations since 2013, relying heavily on community funding and partnerships to continue its mission.
