The Renfrew OPP presenting the Renfrew Food Bank with $6,100 raised during the 2023 911 Swing for The Cause Golf Tournament
The Ottawa Valley’s extreme heat will not dampen what’s happening at the Renfrew Golf Club this Friday.
The Renfrew and Arnprior OPP will step into the teebox for the 2nd annual 911 Swing for a Cause Golf Tournament that afternoon.
Acting Sergeant Brianna Roberge says Environment Canada’s ongoing heat warning will not scare them away from raising money for the Arnprior and District Food Bank.
Local police and first responders are closely watching the forecast, which expects hot and humid conditions this week until cooling off to something closer to the seasonal average beginning on Friday.
That bodes well for the tournament, which Roberge says is designed to collect much-needed donations from different local organizations each year.
She adds that people can help the Arnprior Food Bank without having to brave the heat when players tee off on Friday.
The local detachment considers the 911 Swing for a Cause to be an important date to give back to the community and as a chance for first responders to connect with the community outside of the stressful conditions they’re usually called to.
Registration for the final few spots remaining and sponsorship opportunities can be purchased through the Renfrew Golf Club’s website.
