This Thursday marks an exciting day in the Town of Renfrew – an outdoor market is returning to the area.
The Town and Country Market will run Thursdays from 4-8 p.m. at the Renfrew Fairgrounds.
Organizers Trish Turner and Tammy Huckabone-Welten are excited to launch the market.
The public is invited to drop by and visit with our vendors, ask questions about their products and make purchases on site. Vendors for the inaugural night include pet treats, fudge, women’s clothing, Tupperware, and more.
The idea was born from a need, said Trish.
The Renfrew Fairgrounds was once the site of a bustling farmers’ market and organizers are hoping to build up the Town and Country Market to a great weekly opportunity for shoppers and vendors alike.
Establishing an official “farmers’ market” comes with certain requirements so Trish, who sells Tupperware, and Tammy, a fudgemaker, wanted to open up the opportunities.
Tammy tells us how the Town and Country Market is open to more possibilities.
That said, they are absolutely hoping to sign up vendors with produce to sell, as well as a variety of other small and local businesses.
And items for sale is not the only thing visitors to the market can expect.
Organizers are hoping to draw a food truck or two to the site eventually, and more things for shoppers to enjoy, Tammy tells us.
Students needing their community hours, as well as other volunteers, are welcome to reach out to help.
Admission to the market will be by donation and proceeds will benefit local charities.
The site is accessible and there is plenty of parking available, noted organizers, and there are washrooms on site. Pets on a leash are also welcome.
The market will run Thursday evenings until Oct. 10, with the exception of the week of the fair.
