Did you know that 1 in 5 members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Canada are affected by sexual violence?
The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is calling Pride Month a time to celebrate the resilience and diversity that can be found in the Ottawa Valley.
They’re sharing stats from the Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre that reveal 2SLGBTQIA+ people experience disproportionate rates of sexualized violence, pledging to stand in solidarity with “friends, survivors, and allies in providing support and resources to combat all forms of violence and discrimination.”
They add that they will continue to “advocate for a world where everyone can live authentically and without fear.”
