It’s a new level of competition, but familiar territory for Renfrew’s Jolie Brisco.
The former Vipers Wrestling Club member is heading back to the Pan American Games later in June after capturing gold at the recent Under 23 National Championships.
Even a delayed flight to the Calgary event back in May couldn’t shake Brisco’s form.
Brisco is not sweating the bright lights of the upcoming competition because she’s no stranger to grappling with the best in the world.
The Renfrew-born wrestler says her success comes down to seizing the opportunity every time it’s presented to her, something that she quickly recognized would be necessary as a small-town athlete looking to compete at the highest level.
A good result at the Pan-Am Championships on June 21st could put Brisco in line for a trip to compete at the World Championships in Albania.
