Pride celebrations in Renfrew will get underway in earnest this weekend, starting with back-to-back events involving the town.
You’re invited to the town’s Colour Walk, Run, and Roll, taking off from Ma-te-Way Park on Saturday morning and along a route lined with volunteers dousing participants in a rainbow of coloured food-grade powder, similar to major events happening across the globe.
Programming specialist Janyne Fraser says registration is $30 in support of Renfrew Pride and the local library.
If you’re taking part, Fraser says to be sure to wear a white t-shirt and bring along both protective eyewear and a mask or bandana to cover your mouth when you meet up with the rest of the community for registration this Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Pre-registration has been happening in the run-up to the event, but Fraser says there’s no need to worry if you are just hearing about the event and want to get in on the fun.
The 3.5-kilometre route will take participants through the major trails running through Renfrew before winding back to finish outside Town Hall just in time for Renfrew Pride’s annual Pride Picnic in Low Square, which will welcome in the community for a free barbeque, face painting, fun and games, and live music with local artist Aerik Watson.
