Just because you’re on wheels doesn’t mean you should be on the road.
Police in Renfrew and Arnprior are responding after a number of reports involving wheelchairs and medical scooters in the middle of local roads.
They are now reminding residents that the Highway Traffic Act says wheelchairs and scooters are considered pedestrians and should be on the sidewalk.
If there are no sidewalks available, stay on the left shoulder of the road to face oncoming traffic while you try to get back onto a sidewalk as soon as possible.
