The Town of Renfrew is following up on a declaration made just about a year ago and joining on with a few important initiatives as the calendar turns to May.
Renfrew has proclaimed the month of May as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, nearly a year after the town declared intimate partner violence an epidemic.
The proclamation will also see the town add their support to the We Stand with Survivors Campaign developed by the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County, joining Arnprior, Eganville, Pembroke, Petawawa, and Chalk River by raising a campaign banner at the Visitor Information Centre to ensure survivors feel seen, heard, and believed.
They’ve also declared May 16th Moose Hide Campaign Day, after an “Indigenous-led, grassroots movement of men, boys, and all Canadians standing up to end violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum.”
