Renfrew’s Reeve has his own ideas when it comes to the conduct of town council.
Peter Emon says the motion that indefinitely stripped him of much of his non-county municipal duties after the Ma-te-Way Expansion third party review was not properly shared among the council, nor was it thought all the way through.
He also notes that it leaves a few glaring questions unanswered.
Emon will bring forward his own notice of motion for their next meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd, which he believes will put the council’s desire for transparency and accountability in its conduct to the test.
He adds that that motion lines up with comments he made when five of his fellow councillors voted in favour of sanctions against him and Mayor Tom Sidney following the final report on the ill-fated Ma-te-Way Expansion Project, where we wondered if that group would be capable of holding one of their own similarly accountable.
Emon did not say who the notice of motion would target or provide detail on the conduct that caused the complaint.
