She didn’t catch the correct Ace in Russell, but a Renfrew resident has still come home with a tidy sum of cash.
The Kin Club of Russell is congratulating Mary Mulvihill, who won $13,504 from their Catch the Ace lottery last week after finding the Ace of Clubs in envelope #3.
The add that she narrowly missed out on the $271,000 jackpot had she found the Ace of Spades instead.
Despite the distance from Russell Township, Mulvihill says she’s been playing for the past three years and was totally surprised to get the call with the news.
Since starting the Catch the Ace lottery 8 years ago, the Kin Club has raised over 8 million dollars, including 4 million in prizes and 3.6 million dollars in donations to local charities.
This year’s proceeds are being split among seven local charities: Breast Cancer Action Ottawa, Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, Good Neighbours Food Bank (Township of Russell), Kin Club of Russell’s Storage Centre for Local Service Clubs and Charities, Valoris Foundation, WDMH Foundation, and Youth Sporting Equipment.
