A 29-year-old Renfrew man is facing numerous charges following a convenience store robbery involving a firearm on Raglan Street Wednesday.
Jonathan Chant-Sinon, 29, and a second person who was later released, were arrested on Thursday, April 11 following a police operation in Renfrew that involved members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and the Canine Unit.
Police say they responded to a store on Raglan Street South on the evening of April 10. A male had flashed a firearm at the store clerk before leaving with stolen items and there were no injuries.
Chant-Sinon, of Renfrew, has been charged with:
- Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm
- Robbery using firearm (restricted or prohibited)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Robbery with theft
- Possession of weapon of dangerous purpose
- Knowledge of Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Firearm- use while committing offence
The charges have not been proven in court. The second person was not charged.
According to an OPP press release, the accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear again before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15.
