The upcoming crop of local junior hockey talent will be waiting for the call of a lifetime later this month.
The Central Canada Hockey League’s 2024 draft will return sometime in April and will mark a departure from the previous season by focusing on local under-16, under-18, and lower-tier players eligible to play in the junior ranks.
Details are still scarce, but the CCHL says the format will see the first two rounds dedicated exclusively to players born in 2008, with subsequent rounds also including 2006 and 2007-born players who are currently registered with a Hockey Eastern Ontario team this season and not included on any CCHL team’s Protect List.
The Renfrew Wolves and Pembroke Lumber Kings will both be keeping an eye on their draft boards later this month as the CCHL Playoffs continue into the spring, and the draft could also impact the scouting efforts of the Junior B Arnprior Packers.
More information is expected leading up to the date of the draft.
