A collaborative effort will add some extra shade to enjoy inside Ma-te-Way Park this summer.
Renfrew’s Environmental Officer, Amanda Springer, says Ontario Power Generation’s tree planting initiative with our local scout groups has turned to the town after running out of space at their usual destination at the Reid Lake campsites.
She adds that the plan is a great, low-cost opportunity for the town to meet its tree planting quota for the year.
Among the town’s responsibilities for the project will be the planting plan, which Springer notes will be extra mindful of everyone enjoying the park.
Springer says that there has been some trouble in sourcing trees, especially maple, due to popularity, but they are looking at a mix of native species ahead of planting, which is set for May.
