Arnprior’s Jace Letourneau is turning heads in our local Junior A hockey ranks as the Renfrew Wolves celebrate some well earned accolades ahead of the playoffs.
Letourneau has been named the Central Canada Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player following a dominant regular season where he ran away with the league’s scoring title, putting up 40 goals and 45 assists in just 55 games.
Wolves head coach Ryan Leonard says Jace has been pushed to his limit in his two years with the club, and he’s responded each step of the way.
Leonard, who describes himself as an offensively-minded coach, relishes the chance to allow his players the space to be creative and develop their scoring ability as they try to get to the next level of their young hockey careers.
That being said, the player’s hard work is what sees them move upwards in the ranks, and Letourneau’s efforts have not gone unnoticed
Letourneau has a earned a scholarship with New York’s Clarkson University, but it remains to be seen if he will suit up for the NCAA Division 1 school next season.
The Letourneau family have had a lot to celebrate in recent months, as Jace’s brother, Dean, has been making waves for St. Andrew’s College and will be drawing attention at the upcoming NHL Draft.
Leonard says that it’s up to Jace, at just 19 years old, to making the most of his skills and what opportunities he has been given so far to reach the next level.
