Ongoing construction on Highway 17 is expected for the next several weeks and the company providing traffic control services has a number of suggestions to ensure a smooth commute while the work is completed.
In a social media post, C&C Services announced it would be implementing traffic control measures on Highway 17 and surrounding side roads for the next two to three weeks. The affected area stretches from Storyland Road to Goshen Road.
The family-based business that provides traffic control and compact equipment services provided a list of tips for drivers:
- Leave a little earlier: While C&C strives to minimize your wait in the traffic lineup, unexpected things can happen. Giving yourself some extra time will help alleviate any potential delays.
- Stay alert for signs: Look out for signs indicating the construction area ahead. C&C will provide ample warning to help you navigate the construction site safely.
- Follow lane instructions: Please remain in your lane until directed otherwise by the traffic controller. You may encounter signs asking you to keep right and a line of cones leading to the flagger. Kindly refrain from going to the left of the sign or cutting through the cones. This setup is designed to guide you to the flagger for further instructions.
- Show respect and kindness: It’s important to maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards our hardworking flaggers. Please refrain from yelling or screaming at them and remember to wave with all five fingers.
- Drinks and coffees: Crew members truly appreciate the kind gesture of offering drinks and coffees. Cold drinks must be still sealed, and for coffees, a gift card would be preferred.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this period. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and efficient commute for everyone!” reads the post.
Company officials also remind drivers to be cautious of slick road conditions with today’s cooler temperatures and flurries expected over the next several days.
